Falling into the “oldie but goodie” category is this Bedwin Pea Coat, from their Rain Dogs Collection. The Tokyo-based brand known for their fashion forward thinking and attention to detail, which not surprising when you find out the man behind it all is Masafumi “Bebetan” Watanabe (formerly of revered Japanese label Tenderloin). This coat’s success is all in the details: the anchor embroidery, the stitched-out shoulder logo, the studded collar and the small leather trim at the rear. Simple, yet still the epitome of Japanese street styling. The only thing more we could have asked for was a little Gore-Tex. Available here.
Watch this cool behind-the-scenes video for the YMI Jeans Winter 2009 collection. Shot like a music video, you still get the sense that you’re getting much more acquainted with the brand. They’ve got a great line of junior’s jeans and cute jackets for under $50. Even though YMI is a misses/junior’s line, you may consider giving these jeans a shot if you are on the petite or svelte side.

It’s now less than 30 days to Christmas, which makes it acceptable to consider shoes and boots with a vaguely festive theme. I’m not talking about investing in a pair of curly toed elf boots here. There’s a thin line between festive dressing and fancy dress, and that pretty much crosses it. Boots however, with a hint of festivity that can also last you until February, are well worth a look at. Like these Alpine Snowjoggers in blue on the right. The knitted deer characters add a cutesy edge to a pair of boots that wouldn’t look out of place on the ski slopes of Austria.
